From Olaf Mooij's oeuvre, an overview of which is presented in Brutus, it is apparent that he wants to return to the complete autonomy of the sculpture. His sculptures are stripped of their original function, but their form remains as reminders. The works stand, lie, hang and lean in the exhibition spaces. They appear vulnerable without their practical value and are placed on the ground without a plinth. The work presents itself as fossil relics of a distant past. Mooij's recent sculptures have a strong tactile appearance.
