In the Ass-Works exhibition, the autobiographical photo sculptures that Eleye developed during her work period at the post-academic institution De Ateliers in Amsterdam make their debut. These photos show various bruises and marks on the artist's bare behind, which she sustained through everyday accidents or love bites. The intimate and personal photos have been transferred to plates larger than life size, cut along the contours of the body and placed freestanding in the space.
By presenting her own buttocks to the visiting public in such a monumental way, she raises questions about shame and taboos surrounding the bare feminized body and questions its public role and interpretation. The exhibition is accompanied by a text by philosopher and writer Simon(e) van Saarloos. The text can be listened to via a QR code as well as physically legible in the exhibition space.
The exhibition can be visited free of charge from Thursday to Sunday between 11:00 and 17:00.
