Car Crush, a road movie on stage.

Car Crush is a tragicomic performance about overcoming fear of driving against the background of the fascination for the car.

Opposition of fear versus fascination with the car.
The performance explores the contradiction between fear of the car and fascination with the car. After all, the number of people with driving anxiety is large. Of nearly 12 million Dutch driving license holders, between 800,000 and 1 million suffer from some form of driving anxiety. Half a million no longer dare get behind the wheel. So driving anxiety is common but often goes unaddressed.
On the other hand, the number of car enthusiasts is enormous and - despite all kinds of policy measures - we continue to take the car en masse. In 2023, car sales were again experiencing tremendous growth. Moreover, we are all stuck in traffic jams more than ever.

Roadmovie
In this location performance, the audience experiences a carpool ride of three strangers. The car divides and connects the three. They set off for Berlin, but soon find themselves in a traffic jam. Although they are standing still, the lives of the three strangers are moving with great speed. In the car, a story of courage, friendship, self-discovery unfolds. It employs the characteristic elements of a road movie. After all, the road movie is inseparable from the car.
