Freedom meals are organized throughout the country on May 5. Small, large, with local delicacies or culinary delights. The core of the Freedom Meal is a special meeting at the dining table, where freedom and lack of freedom can be discussed. Brutus is organizing a lunch in collaboration with the 'Rotterdamse Vrijheidsmaaltijden'.

Film Screening: Love is the Message, The Message is Death by Arthur Jafa
This video is a powerful meditation, offering a visceral reflection on the lives of black people and a critique of systemic racism and white supremacy.
Jafa’s work is a seven-minute video made up of clips collaged from original and found footage. Distressing scenes of historic and contemporary violence inflicted on Black Americans by individuals and institutions are woven with scenes of religious ecstasy, athletic prowess, poetic and musical performance – what Jafa has called ‘a Black display of Black excellence.’

The screening will be followed by a talk hosted by Evita de Roode, who will open space for honest, respectful dialogue in a safe environment.
